We are very pleased to announce that we have received our first of many rejection letters!

We submitted a section to this journal, Hostis. Figuring that if anyone would publish this gross nonsense, it’d be someone who embraces incivility and cruelty.

But alas, they said the excerpt was too punk rock and not feminine enough… “A more feminist perspective would be… ‘feminine-specific feminism’ that highlights uniquely feminine attributes… [like] throwing shade, sexual coldness, [and] masochism.”

We’re not sure whether they thought the girl-gang street brawl depicted in the story was too civil, or too uncivil for their refined tastes, but their commitment to gender binary and inability to see violence and action as anything other than masculine made it clear we were barking up the wrong tree.

We’ll now return to our original plan of intentionally barking up the wrong trees.
